Fetching for Flygility
Popular in Australia and New Zealand, this hybrid sport combines elements of flyball and dog agility for a competition testing both speed and teamwork.
As in flyball, dogs pursue balls projected from a flyball box and fetch them to the handler. But courses in flygility are longer, stretching 30 meters from the start line to the box, and they feature agility obstacles.
Handlers stand behind the start line and coach their dogs through the course. Beginner-level courses have a straight line of jumps and tunnels along with the flybox. Advanced courses are more challenging, with weave poles, U tunnels, and changes of direction.
Dogs compete as teams of three in flygility.
