Grenadine
* 6 pomegranates
* 2 cups sugar
* 1 ounce vodka
Peel pomegranates, leaving the seeds and membranes intact.
Squeeze and filter until you've made about two cups of juice.
Pour juice into a saucepan, add sugar, simmer and stir in an ounce of vodka, which acts as a preservative.
The syrup will be good for a month or so.
