The import feature of After Effects just keeps getting better and better, it now offers a wide selection of importable formats which really helps me as I have both Macintosh and Windows video formats on my servers. In times past I would have to go through all sorts of motions to covert a video to a format I could use in post production and After Effects CS4 takes nearly every bit of that trouble away. One thing I really like and am working on learning well is Photoshop 3D files in After Effects. I still have a bit of trouble with X,Y, Z position, however with After Effects CS4 these are much easier to see and make workable even for a 3D klutz like myself. You can even keyframe each position separately. Nice work Adobe! Included in After Effects CS4 is Imagineer Systems Mocha (Planar Motion Tracking). I haven't had much time to learn the in's and out's of Mocha (yet) but I plan to. It is a very powerful addition to After Effects. Adobe has really raised the bar in file export as well in CS4. I absolutely love the fact that more Flash options were added. This really makes life easier especially when you want to produce both video for devices and video for the web. Kudos to Adobe on this. All in all After Effects CS4 is robust, solid and extremely easy to use even for a crusty old video editor like me. After Effects CS4 makes my work really shine.

There is now an improved workflow for asset management and tracking, copyright and royalty management, and project management from source materials to the final product. XMP metadata is applied to your content and remains intact all the way through the production process so you can trace elements while you’re building your composition, and even after you’ve rendered it.
