Deadline: USDA Grants for Markets

April 27 is the deadline for the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Farmers Market Promotion Program offering grant funding to “improve and expand domestic farmers markets, roadside stands, community-supported agriculture programs and other direct producer-to-consumer market opportunities.”

Connecticut: Putnam Farmers Market

Town officials in Putnam, Connecticut, broke ground today on an open-air pavilion that will be home to the Putnam Farmers Market.
Dubbed the Riverview Marketplace, the new facility on Kennedy Drive near Interstate 395 will be a covered stall-like building where farmers can back vehicles in and residents can walk down the middle.
